told you!

I told you I would post something fun and cheery to redeem myself after yesterday! Also, I need some new music in my life, any suggestions?

6 years.

I listen to these same two songs on this day every year. Well, at least for the past 5 or so. These are my melancholy songs. Tomorrow I will post something ridiculously cheery to make up for these two, promise!

original vs cover?

I have a confession- I love the Who. One of my three favorite bands. (Mumford and Sons is the second, Beatles is third) And Pearl Jam's cover of this Who song made me FALL IN LOVE with Eddie Vedder.

original vs cover?

I love Coldplay. I also love the elderly.  When will these things ever converge, you may ask? Well don't you wonder that any longer! Here you go. The first video here is Coldplay "Fix You" and then a lovely cover by the Young@Heart Chorus of "Fix You". Although its the same lyrics, I feel that they say very different things when Chris Martin sings it as opposed to Fred Knittle. Anyway, listen, enjoy and tell me what you think!

days like today:

I love when songs define what you are going through or what you are feeling so perfectly that you feel like they were written for you. Here is one of mine currently. Enjoy.

songs for the restless.

I've been incredibly restless recently. And I have no idea of why. I'm trying to get to the bottom of it, but until then, I need a playlist. So what do you put on a playlist for when you're restless. I feel like anything too upbeat would be a slap in the face, so I'm going to go for some slower, thoughtful songs instead of crazy ones. Here is what I've come up with, let me know if you have any suggestions. I could certainly use them.

Ryan Adams - Lucky Now
Ryan Adams - Come Pick Me Up
Old Crow Medicine Show - Wagon Wheel
Mumford and Sons - After the Storm
Mumford and Sons - Awake my Soul
The Beatles - Hey Jude
The Beatles - While My Guitar Gently Weeps.
The Who - Behind Blue Eyes
Jethro Tull - Life's a long Song
Coldplay - Fix You
Norah Jones - Don't know why
Ruckus (My Morning Jacket) - Same in any language
Arcade Fire - Wake up
Jeff Buckley - Hallelujah
Lucy Schwartz - Gone Away

Well that is a start. Maybe if I decide to take another drive tonight at midnight (like last night) I will at least have some music to keep me company and help me unwind. Happy Tuesday friends.
